There was a time in this country when our leaders came out of the private sector-business men, farmers, pastors, traders, but now our government is made of born and bred politicians. They totally can't relate to how business really functions and every time they get involved they make things worse. I think their lack of real world experience hurts their creativity too, and they can't imagine that small business can be creative enough to solve a lot of the problems. Good luck!

yes, our eating choices are so closely linked to our state of health, yet so few people really care to take responsibility. It's so much easier to take some magic pill to relieve a symptom, but at what cost and with what side effects?!? Let's subsidize organic farmers and tax fast food. You don't see many vegans in the cardiac ward now do you?

Great report, Scott, and a very impressive race. In my decade+ of being a serious triathlete, I never could even begin to imagine doing an Ironman distance race. I know many many people who tried for years to have the kind of race you did on your first attempt!

Great post, Scott! I learned several tips that I will incorporate for my first ironman next year (at Lake Placid). I really like the cooked potatoes idea because, like you, the sweet stuff gets old pretty quickly.

And, the idea for bringing extra contacts is genious! I know it's a simple one, but it could be a major life saver. Hadn't thought it myself.
