SRAM Corp: A Great Subject for an Article

I got a post Memorial Day morale bounce when I saw the on-line version of the June issue of Today’s Machining World. I am a frequent contributor and wrote the cover story for the new issue. The hard copy version yet is still probably a week or two from hitting my mailbox, but I’m sure it looks even better than the PDF. This particular article is about two topics I love and love to write about: bicycles and manufacturing. TMW is a top notch industry magazine and covers a much wider variety of subjects than the title indicates.

Sometimes I re-read published work, sometimes I don’t. I tend to always want to edit and revise, and that can be frustrating. This time, I’m not interested in seeing the words again, especially after living with them for a couple of months, but I am anxious to see the layout and great photography. Terry Ntovas, TMW’s Creative Director, and I had some wonderful images to work with. The cover and contents page photographs are by Casey Gibson, one of the more accomplished cycling photography specialists in the world.

I really enjoyed the research for this article. I got a chance to speak with Jacques Greetis and Eric Schutt at SRAM. I connected with a long time friend, Dave Barrow of Tolland Bicycle. I reconnected with Richard Sachs. I spoke with Lennard Zinn of Velo News and Zinn Cycles.  All the sources were knowledgeable about the subject and have made careers in the bicycle industry.

It is nice to see the finished product after months of work. Now, it is time for a bike ride.
