HBS Alumni Club of CT Spring Benefit @ the Bruce Museum

Earlier in the week, I attended the Harvard Business School Alumni Club of Connecticut Spring Benefit at the The Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut. It was a long drive from my part of the state, but it was well worth it. Eric Hammerling, the Executive Director of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association, was awarded the 2009 scholarship from the club’s Community Partners Scholarship Fund. It is a fabulous honor, and I was pumped because I nominated him. Eric will attend the HBS Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management course in Boston in June. It will be great learning for Eric and he is bound to bring back some great information for the CFPA.

At the Bruce, we heard from the 2008 winner, Jessica Sager, of All Our Kin, a New Haven 501(c)3 that is making a difference in the lives of many New Haven area mothers and children. Also, Robert and Leah Rukeyser were honored for their longstanding commitment to not-for-profit work. Robert is the Vice Chairman of Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. I did not know the Rukeyser’s, but I learned that both he and Leah have done a ton of work for a long list of organizations in Connecticut and New York.

The evening was closed out with a short set from a jazz trio, led by Bennie Wallace.

Watch Bennie play at a previous gig. The music was excellent.

Awesome morning at #elmcitycx the #ctseriesofcx finale. The kids did great. So did the Masters. Great season. Many of us are done after today. A few of us are headed to Nats. At the moment, all of us are frozen! #newhaven #cyclocross #teamhorstsports #teamhorstjuniorsquad #crossspikes @horsteng #lifedeathcyclocross ❄️🚴🏽⛄️🍺 @bentwaterbrewing #bentwaterbrewing #pulpfiction #lynnlynnthecityofsin Overnight with @boyscoutsofamerica Troop 25 at the 4-H Camp in Pomfret. The toboggan run was hairy! I just watched. #boyscouts That moment when @trailrunningmom discovered that our longtime #Christmas Tree 🌲 supplier is a regular student in her #yoga class. They previously hadn’t recognized each other when not wearing #yogini gear. It was great to hear how our farmer has improved her strength and flexibility since she took over the business from her late husband. Note: preparing our menorah for #hannukah takes less work than this! Lovely December day for #Cyclocross at Goddard Park. @nbx_bikes #nbxcx @vittoriaseries #teamhorstsports #teamhorstjuniorsquad @horsteng #crossspikes #rhodeisland Lovely day for more than 130 #BoltonLandTrust members and friends at the annual Walk of #Thanksgiving #bolton #connecticut 🌲 #blackfriday didn’t start so badly! Great day at the #manchesterroadrace @shenipsitstriders #shenipsitstriders #silkcitystriders #teamhorstsports #thanksgiving 🏃🏻 If I always had the option to commute by train 🚂, I would take it. #multitasking 1h45m each way if uninterrupted productivity and NO driving. I even squeezed in a lap of #centralpark with Tim. 🏃🏻#manhattan #newyork
