Pittsfield Peaks Death Race

We didn’t make it the the Pittsfield Peaks Ultra this year, but I was excited to see a cool story and video about the Pittsfield Peaks Death Race in the New York Times. I think this was the first year that the Death Race was held apart from the traditional 55 mile Pittsfield Peaks Ultra which Debbie ran in 2007 and 2008. This year’s ultra was again won by past champions, Nikki Kimball and Leigh Schmitt.

I was witness to the first two editions of the Death Race, held in the Green Mountains of Vermont. I’ve got great photos of athletes performing some of the toughest contrived tasks you can imagine. How about pushing a loaded wheelbarrow up a mountain road while carrying a truck tire on your back? Anyone want to join me for some abuse in 2010?
