Coventry Farmers’ Market

There is nothing better than walking the aisles of a fabulous farmers’ market. The Coventry Farmers’ Market is a regional affair with a really good combination of farmers, food purveyors, and artisans. I think it has the right mix, though it is a bit short on totally organic fruits and vegetables. You can never have a enough of those!

Welcome to the market.

The one thing that Coventry has over other markets is a tremendous setting. The historic Nathan Hale Homestead is a true Connecticut treasure. The colonial home is so beautiful and the grounds of the home are even better. The stone walls are so classic. We had a blast today.

We walked the market, had some lunch, and picked up some green beans and peaches.

Peaches.

We also did some high quality people watching, which is another benefit of attending farmers’ markets. The crowd was thick, thanks to awesome summer weather. There were too many dogs hanging around, but I managed to deal with all the pups.

Another highlight of today’s market was the 1935 Ford Woody Station Wagon (Beach Wagon) that was wonderfully restored by a local couple. The husband’s parents bought the car in 1952 for $50.00. It was stored on the family property from 1960-1997 before the restoration. It was a nice sight to see.

Awesome morning at #elmcitycx the #ctseriesofcx finale. The kids did great. So did the Masters. Great season. Many of us are done after today. A few of us are headed to Nats. At the moment, all of us are frozen! #newhaven #cyclocross #teamhorstsports #teamhorstjuniorsquad #crossspikes @horsteng #lifedeathcyclocross โ„๏ธ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿฝโ›„๏ธ๐Ÿบ @bentwaterbrewing #bentwaterbrewing #pulpfiction #lynnlynnthecityofsin Overnight with @boyscoutsofamerica Troop 25 at the 4-H Camp in Pomfret. The toboggan run was hairy! I just watched. #boyscouts That moment when @trailrunningmom discovered that our longtime #Christmas Tree ๐ŸŒฒ supplier is a regular student in her #yoga class. They previously hadnโ€™t recognized each other when not wearing #yogini gear. It was great to hear how our farmer has improved her strength and flexibility since she took over the business from her late husband. Note: preparing our menorah for #hannukah takes less work than this! Lovely December day for #Cyclocross at Goddard Park. @nbx_bikes #nbxcx @vittoriaseries #teamhorstsports #teamhorstjuniorsquad @horsteng #crossspikes #rhodeisland Lovely day for more than 130 #BoltonLandTrust members and friends at the annual Walk of #Thanksgiving #bolton #connecticut ๐ŸŒฒ #blackfriday didnโ€™t start so badly!
