I was quite pleased to have two winning photos in the 2009 Appalachian Mountain Club Photo Contest. This was the 15th annual contest and the third time that I have submitted entries. It was all done digitally this year through the AMC Flickr page.

Title: Comparing Loads
I took this photo during our June hut to hut trip in the White Mountains. We met Hut Croo member, Taylor Burt, just as he was starting up the Old Bridle Path on the way to Greenleaf Hut. Croo members are famous for carrying huge loads.

Calm Before the Dinner Storm
I took this photo only a matter of hours after the photo of Taylor, Debbie, and Shep. We had gotten settled at Greenleaf Hut and had dinner. Everyone was outside, lounging on rocks, and taking in the incredible evening light. The cloud formations on the Franconia Ridge were beautiful. I took a lot of photos of the mountains, but it was the illuminated kitchen that caught my eye. I captured the image.
The other 10 photos honored are fabulous.
