Connecticut Forum Music Fest

Last night, I attended the Connecticut Forum Music Fest with my father, Stanley, and Art and Mel Roti. It was a good time. I love music and enjoy sharing it with my father. He raised me on classic rock from the 1960’s and 1970’s. I remember that he liked to play it loud. Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Allman Brothers, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Bruce Springsteen, Credence Clearwater Revival, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Grand Funk Railroad, The Rolling Stones, and so many other great artists’ albums were in constant rotation at our house.

So, it was logical that I would bring him to the Forum Music Fest last night. He and I have been to many concerts together, but nothing recently. Life has been busy. He and I are both big Patti Smith fans, and she was at the Fest along with John Legend and John Forte. The three person panel was moderated by Bill Flanagan of MTV. Dad and I saw Patti Smith open for Bob Dylan in her comeback concert at Western Connecticut State University in 1996. It was a great show. She has been prolific again since her 16 year layoff between 1980 and 1996. She moved to Detroit and raised a family. There is more to the story and we got a little insight last night Patti Rocks.

Forte and Legend were equally well spoken as they discussed their careers, inspirations, and families. It was a fun night at The Bushnell in Hartford. Each played a song. It is amazing how you know when you are in the presence of talent.
