7 Sisters, three painful days later…

Three days after the 7 Sisters Trail Race, and I’m still limping around. I did some serious damage to my quadriceps and the heat sucked the life out of me. It is going to take a few more days to bounce back. I swam this morning, but had a “goggle malfunction” 15 minutes into the session. I sprung a leak and then the goggles just snapped in half. Oh well. I can’t see six inches without contacts and I had them in, so I practiced swimming with my eyes closed.

As for Sisters, I’ve seen a lot of Facebook posts, blog entries, and other discussion board activity. Most people agree that there isn’t a tougher 12 mile course out there. Nearly 300 people suffered through the heat and most came out feeling accomplishment. It was my seventh Sisters in a row and it was Debbie’s tenth in a row. For her, that is quite a feat. For me, it is stupidity. I’m not made that kind of up and down. Debbie has been running strong on the Grand Tree Trail Running circuit for more than a decade.

Hopefully everyone recovers and comes out to her race, the Soapstone Mountain Trail Race on 16 May. The Shenipsit Striders are ready to host another great event. I can tell Soapstone is near when the activity level picks up around the house. The Race Director is getting things ready. Very cool.
