Chicago Again

I was back in Chicago this week for a round of business meetings and then for IMTS 2010.

The meetings went well and I got to see a great group of friends who came from all over the world. Our accommodations were fabulous. We stayed at the new Trump International Hotel & Tower. The hotel is one of the best that I have been in. The highlight was the gym. It was awesome. There was a three lane 25 yard lap pool on the 14th floor! I was so happy. The locker rooms were even nicer than Harvard Business School and rival any hotel/spa locker room that I have been in. Throughout the hotel, the service was very good.

The views from the balcony bar on the 16th floor were awesome, particularly at sunset.

I had meetings all day, but saw a bit of Chicago in the evenings. We went down to Navy Pier for a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan. We also visited The Second City and saw a special comedic performance. On the morning that I didn’t swim, I ran downtown and along the lake, which is always an enjoyable experience.

I swam with my friend, Mark Moses, who came into town in time to run the Chicago Half Marathon with 18,000 other people. I missed that, but from the sounds of it, the run is a fun one. Prior to the trip, we had gone to great lengths to research a pool to swim in, all the time not knowing that the Trump had one of the best pools in town. It was a great way to start the day when you can walk to your own 25 yard pool.

I promised Debbie that we will return to explore Chicago together.
