Yesterday’s Know Your Pace Race was followed by the Little Manchester Road Race. It was reported that nearly 600 kids race the sold out races. There was a 1/2 mile, 1 mile, and 2 mile race depending on your age and running desires.
Our four-year old daughter did the 1/2 miler. Our seven-year old decided to “save his legs” for the 4.748 mile MRR on Thursday. It was an awesome day in Manchester with all kinds of action.
The kids were all smiles. Just prior to the race, three skydivers leapt from an airplane and landed right near the start/finish line. It was a grand entrance. The races were led by a bunny. The bag piper was another big hit. A big thank you t the organizers for doing this Little MRR for the third time. We have been every year. Each kid got a sweatshirt and a medal.
Special thanks to the area cross-country and track & field teams who volunteered their time: Eastern Connecticut State University, University of Hartford, and Manchester High School. Those kids were having fun too!
The Race Expo was jam-packed. The last 1,000 entrants to the Manchester Road Race had to show up in person to complete an application because online/mail entry closed earlier in the week. It was cold, but bright sunshine made the day even better. The Little Manchester Road Race is sweet!
